Large specs
How Apifolio stays fast with very large OpenAPI files.
Apifolio is tested with some of the largest public specs, such as GitHub's and Stripe's REST APIs (8–10 MB, more than 1,000 endpoints).
How it stays fast:
- files larger than 400 KB are parsed in a background thread, so the page never freezes;
- schemas are resolved only when you open them;
- endpoints are rendered as you scroll;
- parsed specs are cached while the page is open.
Limits
- Spec files up to 25 MB.
- Up to 4 MB for anonymous visitors (see Public spaces).
Tips for very large APIs
- Use several macros, each showing a few sections (tags) of the same file.
- Choose a fixed height so the page stays easy to scroll.
- Use search: it covers every endpoint and data model, even the ones not on screen.
